Brief Analysis of Major Compliance Points for Data Exports under New Cross-Border Data Flow Rules

On March 22, 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued the Provisions for the Promotion and Standardization of Cross-Border Data Flows along with related supporting guidelines. These regulations aim to relax requirements for cross-border data flows and reduce compliance burden on enterprises involved in data exports, by introducing relevant exemptions and raising compliance trigger thresholds, among others.
