Han Yi Lawyers Share Insights on U.S. and China Export Controls and Sanctions Compliance

On May 15, 2025, at the invitation of the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Ningbo Commercial Development Center, Han Yi partner Ms. Anna Yu and special counsel Ms. Yaping Zhang (also a partner at the U.S.-based Renyue Law Firm PLLC) delivered a lecture at the 2025 “Legal Aid for Foreign Trade” conference in Ningbo. The session was attended by over one hundred representatives from foreign trade companies and industry associations in the region. The speakers provided a focused briefing on how Chinese enterprises can navigate export control and sanctions-related risks amid the evolving global trade and regulatory landscape.


The presentation highlighted recent developments in export control legislation and sanctions enforcement in both the United States and China. Drawing on the team’s practical experience in export compliance and counter-sanctions matters, the speakers outlined key legal and policy changes in recent years and analyzed their implications for the compliance practices of Chinese exporters.


Through this session, Han Yi aimed to support enterprises in strengthening their understanding of export control and sanctions compliance, enhancing their ability to manage legal risks in an increasingly complex global trade environment, and providing practical guidance on issues such as identifying controlled items and determining the applicability of sanctions in specific business scenarios.
