Han Yi Makes Long Term Commitment to Supporting Students in Need
Shanghai has evolved into an ever-growing international cosmopolitan as a result of the burgeoning Chinese economy. The underprivileged, however, would feel even more lonely and isolated in the increasingly prosperous Chinese economy. As the Chinese New Year is approaching, the Han Yi lawyers are particularly concerned about families experiencing hardships for various reasons and their school-age children. In order to help the less advantaged families to reduce their financial pressure and relieve their burden of life as well as to help their children to get access to better education so as to pursue a more promising life in the future, after careful consideration and preparation, the firm entered into a donation and sponsoring arrangement with the Charitable Education Fund under the Shanghai Charity Foundation (SCF) on February 11, 2010 to fund some 8 primary school children from financially difficult families in Shanghai through the "hand in hand" education sponsoring program. It is noteworthy that the Han Yi commitment is not a one-time donation but a long term support to help the 8 students throughout the rest of their school life.
Officers from SCF Charitable Education Fund expressed their appreciation of Han Yi's charitable acts and their gratitude to Han Yi lawyers on behalf of the students and their parents receiving the help. Although there are not many lawyers who are sponsoring students through this program yet, according to the SCF staff, they believe that an increasing number of lawyers and other professional service providers will start to participate in this meaningful program to reward the society.
As a young professional service provider, Han Yi is committed to participating in social charitable works when providing high-quality legal services to its clients. In addition to sponsoring the 8 students in need as mentioned above, during the past year the Han Yi lawyers have also made donations to the China Legal Aid Society, providing material support to carry out legal aid and enhance judicial fairness, and donated dozens of silk quilts to the handicapped to help ease their life during the chilly winter. With the sponsoring of the 8 students as a start, Han Yi lawyers plan to help more students in need in the future, including students in the western region of China, as so to make their contributions to the development of the social charitable works and the construction of a harmonious society.
